There is tons of information about fish and plants there. They also have some great plant packages if you are looking for plants and willing to spend $100 or so. A basic tropical fish book ($20 at Petsmart or the like) and/or liveaquaria.com and a myriad of other web sites can five you the information you need to easily figure out which fish can go together. I just started my tank recently. You can see what I've put together so far in my signature.
