I have a 60 gallon tank with five 1" tetras. The water temp. is 72 degrees. Can I put fancy goldfish in this tank with the tetras?

I wouldn't...Goldfish are notoriously messy and create lots of amonia which tetra's don't seem to tolerate too well.
Also goldfish prefer cooler water than most tetra's.
Look at the profiles to find something more compatable.

As Skitty mentioned, goldfish and tetras have very different requirements. I'd keep one or the other, but not both. You might also want to gradually raise the temp in your tank to around 76. Most tetras are much happier in the mid to upper 70s, depending on the species.

I tried goldfish and tropicals once...... my amonia levels got bad. Bad for tropicals. Goldfish aren't called the dirty fish for no reason. It's true.....you shouldn't mix them. Plus some tropicals are aggressive and will hurt the goldfish more than the goldfish would. One species or the other. Good luck.
