stocking a 2 gal

i duno... are you shure that a betta won't eat shrimp.. they look kinduv tasty:joke:

About the frogs. Many people that post here keep a betta with ADF's. I guess it just depends on your Bettas personality. My Betta gets along with all his tankmates, others aren't so lucky.

apple snails will eat an entire planted tank to death in a hurry. I had one that in one days time ate three leaves off a java fern almost killed it. I changed tanks then he didn't do so well think the tank may have not had enough food I realize now :*(

A 2 gallon tank is really too small for anything but a betta and maybe a snail (if it weren't planted) or an ADF. I put 3 neons in QT in a 2.5 gallon tank (had no other choice at the time) and they were MISERABLE!!! A betta might do well with other fish in a bigger tank, but one that small you might be in for trouble with other fish!

P.S you could use some sponge or something from your other tank to help cycle the 2g tank. you might want to let it cycle before you put the betta in, their fins can get pretty ragged from the stress of the toxins in the water if you don't!

so from what ive heard, if i get a betta my options are to add either a couple shrip or a frog... ill probly just end up w/ a betta, he'll like the extra space
and for the cycleing, ill add some junk from the old filter, and ill do large water changes every week for the first month, that way ill probly not endanger the betta too much

also, ive heard that neons could fit in a 5gal, but 10gal is best since they like groups of 5+ but with a group of 3, could you keep them in a 2 gal, i could alwyas move them to my bro's 10gal if they don't work in there, but i think that they may be fine

Yeah, you really wouln't want neons in a 5g, but a 10g would be fine for a small school. You could fit alot of fish in a 5g... But I know you weren't suggesting that

I'd recommend the betta and probably a african dwarf frog.

ADF are fun to watch and they are hardy. I've kept them in an aquababy(I know, horrible of me!) and it survived for a year into it leaped out and died. So a 2 gallon should sufficiently contain one.

Or a pair of pygmy cories. They grow only 1 1/2 inch and will clean up left up food.
