So the 30 gallon used tank that I went to go get turns out to actually be a 28 gallon bowfront. Not a bad thing though since my mom likes the design. Anyways, I've placed the Kissing Gourami that came with the tank into the loving hands of a LFS in the area that's been keeping fish for over 30 years. They gave me a seven dollar store credit, and I got paid today so my mom and I looked at some of their fish. Automatically my mom went for impossible fish, so I had to set her straight. "No, a Red Tail Shark will get too big for the tank." It's been 30 years since my mom keep fish, so I guess her confusion makes sense. Well after much debate, she decided upon a gorgeous female betta (rich blue with a black and light blue stripe on her side) and six Cherry Barbs.
So my question is, what else could go into the tank? It's planted with both fake and live plants, so there's cover. The female betta seems to be very peaceful, and the barbs do as well. I was thinking about maybe hitting PetSmart up on their one dollar sale, but the only species I liked were the Glowlight Tetras, and the employee told me that they couldn't co-exist peacefully with the other fish in the tank. Any suggestions are welcome.
