P. bridgesii and P. diffusa are same species but this is largely debated until now. Ken Hayes replaced the name P. bridgesii with P. diffusa. Dig through the threads in Inverts forum. This subject was discussed only yesterday. Applesnail.net is down at the moment but I wanted to show you a topic about this subject where Ken Hayes explained everything about this. So, are Pomacea Bridgesii and Pomacea Diffusa the same snail? I keep reading about Bridgesii snails mentioned in the forums, and they came up when I Googled Diffusa. Just trying to keep it all straight.
I really like the purple Bridgesii snails that came up when I searched, with the Nerites a close second. Would one do better than the other?
Any chance I can SAFELY fit one of each in there with my Rasboras or Embers? (Still not sure on those yet) :drool:P. bridgesii and P. diffusa are same species but this is largely debated until now. Apple snails normally aren't efficient algae eaters preferring the softer types but nerites eat almost everything!
Woo Hoo!! I actually was wondering if the snails would bother each other. I would LOVE to see one snail munching on the algae on another snail's shell. So, would it be too much bioload to have the two snails and 6 little swimmers?LOL..I doubt both species of fish you want will harass the snails. I always keep nerites with my diffusas just to avoid algal growth on their shells.![]()
So, is there any way to prevent shrimp from reproducing? I really, REALLY don't want to deal with getting rid of excess shrimp. I remember the nightmare of guppy overload as a kid and I just don't want to deal with that again. Ever.
The lid on my tank is pretty tight, and the one gap I have, I can pretty easily seal off with some tin foil or some tape, I would think.
I will check out the snails mentioned in an above post. Thanks again for so much help!
