Hi everyone!

I recently aquired a 55gal tank for $100 bucks at my work! Which is a steal, considering it ran for $400.. but anyhoo...

I wanted everyones' opinions on what kind of fish I should put in it. I would love to have some smaller african cichlids. Any suggestions?

I also forgot to add that I have VERY hard water where I live.

African cichlids are perfect for hard water where you live. They thrive in that kind of water. My advice would be go to the LFS and look around. See what you like. Then come back and research your interest. That is the best way to have the perfect tank.

I don't know much about African cichlids, but a 55 is perfect for a stream tank set up with small schooling fish. White Clouds, dace, many shiners, darters, etc. would love your hard water.
