1 or 2 4-6" cichlids (or breeding pair :wall
6 tiger barbs (known for their aggression; especially in this small of a group)

All in a 36" x 12" tank. This sounds like a bad combination IMO.

It's weird that we seem to have the same mind. The moment I read this thread when it was posted, I had the same reaction as yours.

Definitely tetras are my best bets along with some cories.

Why only a couple? A 33 gallons can permit 15 or more cardinals along with more than just a couple otos IMO.
