stocking and UGF

That is true. I will be converting to a RUGF and tryin it out. Also would be adding an inch to the gravel in my tank. The red devil has made a good shelter under the rock cover by scooping out the gravel. This is on my UGF :-)

OK i was using a hob {hang on back of tank i guess} that was sucking up through a ugf {under gravel filter } never vacuumed any of my tanks just
change partial water once a month no dead fish no black gunk used the old 1 " of fish per gallon of water did use a big earth filter once a year on my 50 gal tank when i did a water change
why is this not ever talked about for todays tanks and yes did the test for water quality

please help an old man out lol
and not out the front door i know that way lol

grumpy...nothing really wrong with what you are doing. A RUGF will be better in the long run for the bacteria in the substrate, if you are not a consistent tank maintenance person.

A lot of recent folks to the hobby have never used UGF or RUGF and just post what they have heard about them, without any first hand exerience. The next group that will tell you how bad they are, are the folks who overstock, over feed, and/or do not maintain their tanks correctly. They have determined the UGF are old school.

Pretty funny, eh?
