Stocking Density Calculator?

All of them are pretty much bull, obviously this one is ;).

There is no set way to "calculate" stocking of tanks, the best way to post on a forum and find out what experienced others think of your stocking list.

There's a sticky in the fresh water newbie forum regaurding this stuff.

I currently have about 30" of small fish in my 45g. The tank is FULLY stocked, as the fish are still growing. To keep the NO3 around 10ppm I do 25% water changes once, sometimes twice a week.
That site tells me that my tank will hold 71" of fish, that's an awful lot of fish! I can't imagine how crowded it would be in there, not to mention the maintenance. If the fish were large, it would be even worse. I sure hope there aren't a lot of people using this calculator and not getting a second opinion!

Well I checked the site and the this disclaimer says it all to me:

"Important
The recommendations made by this program, like any stocking density recommendation, are a massive oversimplication of a much more complex problem. "

I put the dimentions of my tank in the calcuator and didn't get anywhere near the volume of water the tank is supposed to be either. But I don't expect this stuff to be exact.
