I am currently cycling my 46 gallon bowfront tank. In preperation for when it is ready I am compiling a potential stocking list. And since you all have way more experience in the hobby than I do, I was wondering if anyone would be willing comment on it and/or give advice on if it is good or if there are issues with it.

Will the fish get along together? Is this too many or too few fish for my tank? I'm a beginner so are all the fish fairly easy to care for?...I don't want to get something that I am unable to keep alive and happy. Any specific order for stocking the fish? and any other comments?

Stocking list:
2x False Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
1x Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto)
1x Lawnmower Blenny (Salaias fasciatus)
1x Longfin Bannerfish/Black&White Butterfly (Heniochus acuminatus)
1x some sort of pygmy angelfish (I'm potentially interested in the following angels...any suggestions on which one?)

* Nahacky's Pygmy (Centropyge nahackyi)
* African Flameback (Centropyge acanthops)
* Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosus)
* Japanese Pygmy (Centropyge interruptus)
* Half-Black/Pearl-scaled Angel (Centropyge vroliki)

Stocking list:
2x False Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) - Fine, would add these first
1x Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto) - Fine, a nice fish, only add one though
1x Lawnmower Blenny (Salaias fasciatus) - Fine - ensure a good supply of algae is available to this fish
1x Longfin Bannerfish/Black&White Butterfly (Heniochus acuminatus) - I think you tank is a little small for this fish
1x some sort of pygmy angelfish (I'm potentially interested in the following angels...any suggestions on which one?)

* Nahacky's Pygmy (Centropyge nahackyi) - Can be a little agressive. not that many of these about to purchase..
* African Flameback (Centropyge acanthops) - Can be a little agressive
* Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosus) - Can be a little agressive
* Japanese Pygmy (Centropyge interruptus) - Very expensive fish indeed, would not advise one...again, agressive
* Half-Black/Pearl-scaled Angel (Centropyge vroliki) - Can be a little agressive

Added some comments in red above...As with most dwarf angels, put them in last if all your other fish are peacefull inhabitants..All are prone to nip at corals, but, reports do vary, so, its a chance you take if you add one of these to a reef system, personaly, i would not, but thats just me.. :)

Thanks for the input Niko!

1) I haven't looked at any pricing yet. All I did was search through the various centropyge species lists and see which ones I liked visually. So it is good to know which angels are rare/expensive. I probably won't be purchasing a rare species since I am new to all of this....(it figures that I liked the Japanese and Nahacky ones the most :( oh well, the others are beautiful as well!). It is also good to know about the angels being known to not always work well with corals. Once I gain some experience in the hobbby I hope to start adding in corals to my initial FOWLER setup.

2) Hmmm...I was wondering on the feasiblility of the butterfly in a tank the size of mine. I have seen websites stating it was barely within the size limits and some stating the tank is too small. So I am always glad to get knowledgeable feedback.

Anyway, thanks! :)

Thanks for the input Grins. :)

So the amount of fish listed doesn't seem to be too many? And, if not, does anyone have any recommendations on a decent beginner fish to replace the butterfly with on the stock list?

First of all, Niko, wow you weren't kidding about the rarity of those angels I listed!! From http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2006/12/aafeature#h2

Located some 1000 miles southwest of Hawaii, Johnston Island is a very remote and isolated coral atoll. The sight of American atmospheric atomic tests in the 1950s and chemical weapons disposal in the 1990’s it should come as no surprise that this island is off-limits to the general public. Administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the US Airforce, only scientific expeditions are now allowed to visit the island and only when the appropriate permits are obtained, which can take up to a year. For this reason, the reefs around the island are pristine and contain a large number of predatory fish such as sharks and jacks. In addition, it is home to Nahackyi's angel, the only place in the world where this fish is found. Ironically, the specimen that was used to describe the species was collected in Hawaii in deep water, but another specimen has never been found so that one was most likely a waif. In 2000, the Aquarium was granted a permit to collect six of these fish and again this spring, we were again granted a permit to collect and display this fish. That makes the Aquarium the only place in the world that has live specimens of this species. This fish is a finicky eater and does best in a tank filled with live rock where it can graze on sponges, tunicates, algae and other items. It eventually learns to take prepared foods such as frozen mysis, flake good, live baby brine shrimp, Cyclopeez and gel diet. Another large species, they can reach up to 5 inches (7.5 cm) in length.

Also, I will check out the speceis you mentioned.

Grins, I realize that it is a really personal thing with no "correct" answer. And I hesitated even asking. But, I still like to hear what others' favs are just to help along my own researching....just to give me ideas to check out info and pictures. I was originally looking into getting a jawfish of some type...but I don't think my sugar-size sand substrate will be a good building environment for one.

I guess, my plans are to have a FOWLER tank for at least the first 6 months...maybe a year. But I do eventually want to try my hand at corals or potentially an anemone. But that won't be anytime soon. As to my preferences, I want a fairly peaceful/non-aggressive tank. And I want fish with differing personalities. Personally, I think that the lawnmower blenny in my stock list is pretty much the ugliest fish I have ever seen. And I have never actually seen one in person. But everytime I read a thread or something about them somewhere the owner always says how much fun and how much personality they have. So it has peaked my interest ;)

ive got a molly miller blenny and its one ugly guy but i love it....loads of personallity.....on the angels i like the the coral beauty and the flame angel both of which are pretty hardy.
