Stocking for a 75 gallon

So I have decided I want to convert my tropical community of little fish into a tank with larger fish, not necessarily aggressive fish but larger. I am toying around with the idea of an oscar but probably wont do it as I do want to keep a few of my fish now (L144, rubber lip pleco, possibly golden wonder killis) which would all certainly die if kept with an oscar lol. Doesnt have to be a cichlid just want something large, 8+ inches and nice to look at. Would probably like to have two of them depending on what they are (size and schooling preference). So any ideas?
 
I really like most fish, but would prefer something that isnt quite as common as an angel. Also the only store around here that carries them is petsmart that are like quarter size and generally dont live very long. If I could buy a larger angel than id be more for it. I just want something larger in my tank as everything now is so tiny, I would even like a school of rainbowfish with a larger "centerpiece" fish if you know what I mean. Of the fish I know I dont really have a definite idea save those Frontosa which would be pretty cool and are supposed to be relatively docile with things that dont fit into their mouths. I also like knife fish, pacu, parrot cichlids, interesting stuff.
 
Knifes and pacu wont work due to size Froner ts are africans and dont have any experience with them someone else would have to help you with that Most larger cichlids will eat what ever they could fit in their mouths what is in the tank now
 
Now its just an assortment of smaller fish that I would be moving out of the tank, how large do pacu get? I didnt think they got that huge and same with a knife fish... I thought they got like 10" or so
 
Pacu get huge and depending on the kind of Knife some get to big for that tank if you are moving the smaller fish out you could get a oscar which are pretty personable fish but in reality every fish has its own personality some people have luck with combos and others dont trial and error for instance right now I have a 29 Gallon with 2 female convicts that swim with the tetras like they are part of the school but you could leave your fish in and try keyhole cichlid they get about 6-7 inches and are pretty docile most of time.
 
Knife fish are a different fish, the african knife and black ghost knife stay under 18" most of the time. Do NOT go with a clown as they will be over 3'... Do some research on them as they are not like most fish and need some different treatment as far as feeding and meds go.

-edit- it would also be over 7-8 years before one of those knife fish would hit ~14"
 
Ohh you know what I like those keyhole cichlids actually they are pretty cool! The smallest fish I have are probably emperor tetras which are like 3" in your experience would something like that be compatible still?
