Stocking levels

What the heck happened over at RC, all the big fish have left the pond! I guess I have a new forum to check out :)
I watched the events unfold like a car crash. Just couldn't take my eyes off it.

Here's Ron's version, the Jan 5 entry is the most relevant:

Here's GregT's:

I'm not normally such a gossip monger, but I found it interesting how each person played their parts predictably.

Wowee, thanks for those links, what a mess. I saw threads referring to the deleted one, but didn't realize that it was THAT situation that had spiraled into everyone leaving. It's really, really unfortunate that they're not there any more but I can understand why the situation isn't really salvageable and they've moved on.

I only posted once on RC (asking if I could keep a yellow tang in a 65g when 75g was the reommendation). At first I was ignored, then given an answer that contradicted an answer by someone else, and when I accepted the advice that was more agreeable :) to me, I was told, well you'll do what you want anyways. And when I countered that many sellers (as Live Aquaria) recommend 50g minimum, I was told unkindly to "get over it and move on."
That was my first and final posts on RC!

Thanks mysis: I will not get a sleeper goby although he sure is a pretty fish!
I'm just maintaning things and working on lighting and circulation and filtratuion upgrades. :)

Interesting reading mogurnda! I like reading Dr. Ron, he's so likeable.

In a prickly, crotchety sort of way, I guess :D

I feel a little uncomfortable devoting too many words to analyzing another board (especially while hijacking Blinky's thread), but I would have to say that RC can be very useful. If you have specific questions on a topic, while avoiding the hot-button issues (tangs and DSBs, e.g.), there are people who can answer just about anything. Even with some of the "stars" gone, there is a huge amount of knowledge there. The hard part can be figuring out which of the 20 or so replies is right and which ones are baseless.

SF - you should have known better than to prod the tang police, lol, they're vicious! ;)
Dave - I appeciate the info and no worries about the hijack... I don't even think it qualifies as such since I started it, lol :D
