Hey guys I am trying to decide which fish to put in my 45g tank. I really like schooling fish. In the past I have had tiger barbs, green tiger barbs, neon tetras and plecostomi. I would like to try something new out but keep to a schooling fish. I dont want 3 big fish taking up the whole thing. Any suggestions?

Something to keep in mind... I live in a small town and only have 1 small store I can buy from so they probably dont have a huge selection. Also I am a starving college student and dont have a big budget for this.

5 congo tetras.

white clouds are pretty common and cheap

Hi,

For your 45 gallon, you could get 15 Neon Tetras, 15 Harlequin Rasboras, 10 Bronze Cories, and as the centerpiece fish you could get a Dwarf Gourami or a Ram. All those fish are pretty common so you have a good chance at finding them at your local pet store.

thanx for the input guys. a few questions tho. can i buy them all at once or should i buy them 1 species at a time? and whats a ram?

Hi,

IMO it would be best to buy one species at a time.

A Ram (their are many varieties) is a type of dwarf cichlid. They are very peaceful for cichlids and they are also quite pretty.

Can you have just one Ram? Also, do they get along fine with cories?
