I'm just looking for ideas. I have my 3.5in green terror and an 8in pleco in my 55, and I think that's all I'm going to have. I have my 3in Jack Dempsey in a 40L, and am going to buy a pleco for that tank. My plan is to in the future move my 40L population into my 90, that's empty right now. Don't think I'll put the JD and GT back together because they fought constantly. Any suggestions for companion with the JD or the GT, if I decide to add to that tank? Thanks.

are we talking about gallons or liters?

this thread doesn't make a lot of sense.

let me clarify, sorry

I have a 55 Gallon and 40 Gallon set up currently. I have a 90 Gallon on stand by until later, and I also have a 125 that I'm no longer using.

Anyway, I was just wondering on ideas for what types of fish to look into housing with the green terror in the 55gal, and the jack dempsey in the 40 gal long, that's all. I was saying I'll be transferring the fish in the 40 to the 90 later.

it all depends on your personal fishes personalities in my experience. I have a full grown female JD in my 55g with all kinds of babies and its the nicest fish ever. I've heard green terrors can be monsters but I've also seen them get along fine with 1" africans. You'll just have to experiment, I'd say you have enough room to go to the fish store and go wild, what kind of cichlids do you like?

I like the JD's and convicts most. I've thought about going with a type of catfish or maybe a jag with the green terror, and maybe convicts with the JD.

I wouldn't do more than one convict, if you have two and they pair off and start to breed in one of your tanks it will be hell for the rest of your fish. Jag's are awesome, if you haven't owned one yet you should. Just make sure they have space because they are pretty nasty.

One of the folks at work told me in his 75 gal tank he has a 4inch jack dempsey, a 7inch tiger oscar, a 4inch convict, two large silver dollars and a pleco. Said he's had them together now for almost a year.

I am seeing that dealing in cichlids can be a crap shoot. I had considered getting oscars again but thought they'd be a problem existing with JD's or the green terror.
