I have a 12 gallon Eclipse tank happily housing 5 Harlequin Rasboras and a Hillstream Loach. I'm thinking one or two more fish would completely stock it; but am looking for advice as to what would be good choices. Increasing the Harlie school by 2 is an option, and an easy one, but...figured I'd ask.

I've got two fake plants (one broadleaf and one fine leafed tall bushy one) and a ship decoration the loach calls home when he's not zipping around the walls. I'd want to avoid anything that may attempt to 'displace' the loach.

Thanks

I have a loach as well. Wonder if its the same as yours? Ive got my pics in the link below. But I'd do 2 more of the rasboras. Or if Algae allows or you feed wafers, Id get another hilly! they like company.

That's pretty much him. He's about an inch and a half long, if that. Very cool. I've read they'll eat algae wafers so will have to get some. Haven't seen him on the substrate much, if he's not on the 'ceiling' of his wrecked ship or on the filter intake he's bouncing around the glass.

Thanks! I'm concerned the tank isn't big enough to support another hillstream, even though I'd love another one.

Yeah, I've got to get some pics taken. :) He's tough as he's usually on the move.

I would get another hillstream and 2 more rasboras. You can increase the flow on 1 side of the tank and add some river rocks if you want him to spend less time on the glass (mine never leaves it).

Wow, I love the loach. I've read about these before but never seen a pic. How much are they? I think they need cooler water with lots of movement to simulate a river. I'll be doing some more reading on them because I've got a feeling they'll be my next purchase. Great pic!

Good choice with the rasboras. I read about them on this site and have a school of them now and I just love them. They're so colourful and a very tough fish.

I keep my water about 75 degrees. The loach was about 7 bucks and required a two-net technique to catch. He doesn't swim as much as dart from one surface to another :) I'm still concerned another loach would be too much if I add two more rasboras - which I think I will do. Five are happy but I think 7 will be even happier. I also have a bubbler I'm going to set up; needed to get a check valve and since haven't had the opportunity to set it up.
