Stocking

1 dwarf gourami
3 red eye tetras
6 guppies + 1 baby
3 corys
1 mollie

Yesterday I just added 5 neon tetras. Im wondering if this is an okay bioload........since I dont really understand the term. In the near future I will be purchasing a 10g for my daughter (lol.....more for me I guess :)). Should I take the dwarf gourami and transfer it once its cycled?? I wanted to stock it with 2 dwarfs (if a 10 is sufficient enough) and my daughter wanted some neon tetras and cory's. Does this sound okay?

Off topic for a sec here........I woke up yesterday to find my red eye tetra swimming in the baby tank I have connected to the side of the tank......out of 6 babies there was only 1 left. They sure get what they want!!! Wonder how the heck the little devil made it over the side??? :evil_lol:

I'd avoid 2 dwarfs in a 10 or 20 gallon. Instead of getting dwarfs get honeys, pygmy, or sparkling gouramis.

You can instantly cycle the 10 gallon if you do two things.

Buy the filter for it first and run it on your cycled 20 for a week before buying the 10.

Either use some of the gravel out of the 20 or put some in a nylon stocking or filter bag and set it in the 10 on top of the new gravel.

Doing both will establish the tank very quickly. Once you have one cycled tank, you can set up and cycle new tanks without the huge wait.

make sure THAT gourami is nice to the guppies, and try to get a female gourami as the males can be quarrelsome. Dont get a molly... they poop too much.

If you moved the DG over to the 10g, you could add some neons but in order to have a sufficient school of neons you'll have to ditch the cories. You could do:

1 Dwarf Gourami
6 Neons

and you could add some small shrimp or snails too. :)
