Hey everyone. I posted a similar question in the aquarium pictures section, but then realized I am more likely to get responses if I post it in the discussion section. I just upgraded the 90 I had to a 150, and am thinking of some stocking changes. Here is what we currently have:
150 gal freshwater semi-aggressive community tank
3 juvenile bala sharks (3-4" each)
10 tiger barbs (5 adult, 5 juvenile)
3 black skirt tetras
4 lemon tetras
2 siamese algea eaters (4" ea)
real plants
approx 160 watts of lighting (4x48" t8 6500k fluorescent)
Filtration is Eheim 2215 + Eheim 2217 (I like clean water)
25% weekly water changes
55 gal freshwater non-aggressive community tank
15 fancy guppies (3 females, 2 males and any surviving fry)
15 neon tetras
1 white cloud mountain minnow (the other 4 died)
fake plants
biowheel filter
25% weekly water changes
My first question is whether I can / should move all the lemon and black skirt tetras into the 55 (and get some larger / more aggressive fish for the 150).
Secondly, what recommendations does everyone have for the 150? My wife has her heart set on a pair of Kribensis and a small school of rainbows after seeing them at the LFS. We were also thinking of 1-2 Bolivian Rams and/or Yellow Labs.
I really like schooling fish, so I initially thought of Silver Dollars, but found out they are tough on planted tanks, so they are out.
We are fortunate to have a number of good LFS near us, so I think most freshwater aquaria species are available. What else should I be looking at?
Thanks for any responses!
