I have a 29 Gallon @ 82f with sandy substrate and what I believe to be a whisper power filter for 30 gallon tanks . It has some live plants(common ivy), a mixed school of neon and cardinal tetras(9), glowlight tetras (5), 1 spotted cory, 1 julii cory, and 1 male blue ram cichlid. I have been having problems finding a mate for my ram. All I can find are males. If I cannot find a female, should I put anymore fish in the tank? I have always heard that cories are very social, the two I have hang together sometimes but spend a lot of time apart. If I add a fish should I get one of the same species and add it? All of the tetras school together, sometimes breaking off into two groups but hardly ever just the glowlights and just the neons/cardinals. If I add more fish should I upgrade my filtration? Any suggestions are appreciated.
 
I was thinking maybe a dalmation mollie and a sword tail. I have three tanks and no fish that my children like. They each like the swordtail and mollie respectively? What do you think?

A word of caution the rams are very peacefull in normal conditions. But when they breed they become HOLY TERRORS my ram defended his eggs with reckless abandon. He was taking on fish that were 2 or 3 times his size (he was an inch and a half and my 1 congo tetra is 4 inches) and the other fish were running away like king arthur from the killer rabbit.[hopefully you like monty python lol]
 
You should have a filter in which the flow rate is 8-10 times that of the aquarium. An aquaclear 300 is great for a 29 gallon. Mollies and swords need company of their own kind, 3 females or 1 male and 2 females. I would not get one molly or one swordtail. The cories should have more of the same species. Instead fo the mollies and swordtail u should get a couple cories of the same kinds u have.
 
I know about the possible aggressiveness of rams. I thought I had a pair, but what I got where two males that like to beat each other up. I had to separate them. the better looking of the two was like "run away! run away!";)

Thats good advice on the corys how many should I add?
 
At least 2 more of each kind would be good. In general, the different types won't school together too much, they like their own kind best. I think that would bring you about to your stocking level, but since they're smaller fish, as long as you keep up on maintenance, if you really wanted to still add a few more fish after the corys, I would suggest glo-lights or corys. The bigger the group, the better they'll school, so it might look nice :p:
