Stocking question

I just inherited responsibility of this tank at my school: 38x27x22 54g corner tank. Fully cycled, bare except for gravel, Fluval 303 canister. I know its fully cycled because it had no ammonia, no nitrites, and 100+ nitrates


I had to do an emergency water change, as it just came into my care today.

So far it has one ~5inch silver dollar, and one 10 inch blackish catfish (update, it appears to be an iridesant shark ). He has a 110 to go back to if it doesn't work out.


Anyway, how many more silver dollars could I add if I wanted a jack dempsy? Any other PERSONABLE cichlids I could add instead of the demspey? Thanks

I'd recommend Blood Parrots. A lot of people here don't like them, but they have a great personality, and aren't terribly aggressive. Mine's actually in a community tank and does fine.
