A dwarf gourami or a honey gourami (even a bit smaller than the dwarf) might do well in your tank of pgymy cories.

if i was going to get figure 8 puffers how many could i get and what would be some good tank mates
Many folks keep them in species tanks. They need brackish water as well, so you might ask down on the brackish forums in a separate thread where you are likely to fnid some folks who own them and have tried various tankmates.losermonkey5 said:

They are deffinately brack fish so unless you are prepared to develope your tank to brack they are not a good choice. I've got three dwarf puffers. These are excellent little fish, but you can't keep too many together.
I had three in a 10 G tank, but two were male. One of the males wasn't eating, so I moved him into a divided 5.5 G tank.
In a 15 G tank, you could probably house four or five, as long as no more than two are males. you could also toss in a few otos. That's about it for stocking density, but dwarf puffers are really neat fish, and are worth the valuable real estate.
