stocking schooling fish

Six is just a number that people think. I have kept both danios and white clouds in groups of four without any problems. They are perfectly happy. Tetras are a bit different though and I would say five is a good number, but the more the merrier :)

that would explain why i went through four or five individually-kept tetras as a kid lol

oh, great, then that means i just suck at fish-keeping, and should give up now before i kill an entire tank full :grinyes:

hijacking my own thread XD

well, it is my own thread about stocking, right? i'd like to see the OP report me lol...

so, how's this sound for a 16-gallon planted tank?

6 Harlequin Rasboras
6 White Cloud Mountain Minnows (or Cherry Barbs, if the minnows can't handle the warmer water)
2 Red Flame Dwarf Gourami
3 Khuli loaches
and a bunch of Ghost Shrimp (not sure how many would be best)

^^ The minnows will be fine. They're okay up to 75 degrees, which works for tropicals.
