I just got a new 10 gallon tank and I've been running it for the past week or so with a heater. I want to start adding fish into it now, i checked all the ph levels, ammonia, etc. and it's all fine.

What tropical fish should i add into my new 10 gallon that will all be compatible together?

Please be sure that your cycle is complete.

You can go with a tetra tank and a few inverts. Being the Neon fan that I am, I'm biased to suggesting stocking a few Neon Tetras - maybe 7.

If your tank has a neutral pH or higher, you could probably add a snail or two.

If you want a centerpiece fish, you could take a gamble with a Betta splendens. You could alternatively use a Dwarf gourami.

...or you can make it a shrimp-only tank. Stick a few cherry shrimp in there, let them breed, and you got yourself a 10-gallon with over 100 shrimp!

The levels are fine because nothing is in the tank. In order to cycle it, the bacteria need some ammonia source to feed on. This can be done by putting fish food into the tank or actually using pure bottled ammonia

Galaxy rasbora and habrosus cory tank - between 4 and 6 of each :). or u culd do guppies, endlers, chilly rasbora, zebra rasbora, least killi, clown killi.... there are many choices, just decide what u want, color, personality small fish, larger fish.

HOW did you cycle your tank?? using what?:feedback:

Do a fishless cycle with plain ammonia (available at most mom/pop type hardware stores and some grocery stores... but no flavors or scents or suds type ammonia).

Or you can buy a product like Dr. Tim's One And Only and if you go to this thread, he might even send you a free bottle...
http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233550&goto=newpost You'll have to PM him and let him know why you need a bottle.. and you clearly qualify.

That would instantly cycle your new tank and then you could add all of the fish that can fit in your tank (not many). I have a blog article about 10G Tank Stocking Suggestions with LOTS of suggestions.

I have a 10 gal. tank too. I have an overpopulation of mollies... they're really hardy and repopulate like they're machines if the water is right. I've just started this forum, and i've had mollies for 6-8 months now. Just getting it cleer that I'm no expert :D
