Hi, I have a 3 gallon planted tank and so far have 2 cherry shrimp. I'm looking for stocking suggestions. I'm interested in guppies but heard that they might not be best for this tank because they are active fish.

The tank dimensions are:

7" wide
8" deep
12" long

Can anyone make a recommendation for me?

Thanks!

A betta would be fantastic. You could put 1 or 2 guppies but I wouldn't suggest any neons. In my opnion, they are far too active for such a small tank.

You could also do a shirmp-only tank with a bunch of live plants. I had a small 2.5g at my desk with Cherry and Amano shrimp. You could also get a dwarf puffer (only one) with no other tankmates.

These are great suggestions, thanks! I'm not sure what I'll do but I'll be sure to post once I decide. :)

Cool, let us know when you decide! :thm:

I agree with colinsk, boraras brigittae are absolutely stunning fish, look into those!

Just a quick note if you decide to get guppies---unless you have other tanks for fry, get all males. They're usually prettier anyway.

If you can find them, you could try Endlers instead of regular guppies. Very nice color patterns. Availability seems really variable, it just depends where you are. I had to mail-order mine.
