I have just set up a 54gal bowfront corner tank and need advice on stocking. I would like to keep koi and marble angels, german rams, and some cory cats. I am using an Eheim ECCO filter, couple pieces of driftwood and reg gravel. I will be adding an assortment of live plants soon. Any advice on how many of each species would be appreciated.

German rams are very hard to keep. I'd leave it a while before you get them. They require very precise water conditions. Personally i'd keep 5-6 angels and the same of cory cats until you are very confident.

KOI in with angels?

do Kois like water 80-82 degrees?

I always thought Kois were cold water are they?...(but I don;t have kois so I am just asking)

of course you could be talking about KOI angels... ;) (duh)

personally I think you could keep rams with Angels..angels like clean warter too..tho breeding in the aquarium has toughened up the species to make it more tolerant.

I know you can keep Altispinosa with angels..they are a bit hardier than Ramerezi...

Star Rider...they are talking about Koi Angels. They are a color form of angels. Not goldfish. As far as keeping angels together in that tank. It might go over well while they are young, but if you get a mating pair, you will probably only be able to keep the 2 that pair up. They will eventually kill the others. They can be kept with all sorts of tetras however. But not neons, they will eat them. Check my sig. My angels arent mature yet, so I will prob end up having to get rid of one of them, but for now everyone gets along okay. I might have to move mr.betta when the angels mature also bc they may start picking on him. I will also have to get rid of one of my rainbow sharks simply bc they will pick on each other. Didnt want you to think you can keep two of them together. Anyway..enough with my rambling.

jodimartens,

I caught that ,...LOL

I have several angels..I have marble, sunset loi, koi, leopard...

I have two breeding pairs in a 55..another pair forming in a 75.with discus as tank mates..

Teresa,
In that tank you could keep 4 angels, a couple rams and some dither fish(larger tetras come to mind)

if you want tetras' I would recommend you go with cardinals..they get large enough the angels won't try to eat them.

if you choose another bottom dweller..remember those bottom dwellers maybe competing for space with the rams..I won't recommend oto's since I know angels will atleast try to eat them..I lost two to angels in my 55..
the tank will be peaceful until you get a pair..(angels) if that happens you would have to find a place for the other angels.
