does anyone have any good ideas for stocking a 25 gal tank
... I was thinking like a yellow watchman goby... (would it outgrow that size tank?)

the rest confuses me... these firefish look cool... but do they get along with the goby
...
the other bit is the clean up crew, are all these hermit crabs the same with different colour legs or are some better than others...

Yellow watchman would be fine in that size tank, and so would a firefish. A clown would go good as well, or a Cardinal. Stay away from any and all damsels for that size or you will only have 1 fish in the entire tank. Firefish are closely related to the goby and they should get along fine, and if not, they will each make their own home to live in. My bluespot and engineer goby live together, but my bluespot and yellow hate each other and do the "my mouth is bigger than yours" thing they do to show dominance. No fighting, just flashing.

Ya, some hermits are better than others.. unfortunately, I kinda forgot which ones are the good ones or bad ones, so I just grab the smallest ones I see. Someone else will hopefully chime in and say which one is better than the other. Also, are you planning on any corals/mushrooms or just going fish only?

I want to get into corals and stuff later but Im in no rush with that...
as for damsels... I dont like em .. they look cool but kinda plain in a way.

so im wondering would 3 fish be ok? and is there any order I should add them
in
clown (cause everyones gotta have one)
firefish
and the goby

plus some small hermit crabs? (scarlet if I can get em)

I'll be going out to jl aquatics today so I wanna make sure things are in order...
im gonna pick up a refractometer to I think
and salt ...
anything else I should add to the list?

How long has the tank been setup? You could put the firefish and goby in at the same time, but I would wait a month after doing that before putting in a clown. Let the goby and firefish get used to the tank and make their homes before you put in a clown because the clown will freak out the firefish just by swimming near it. Firefish are VERY timid fish, but will dart into their home in the blink of an eye when spooked.

tank has been set up about a month id say with just a little live rock and two hermit crabs

thanks for the help

I had a qt tank... then a sump happened
but I'll be able to set another one up soon I just need a heater(which I probably need anyways)
