Stocking

Looks good. You might be able to add another firefish, as well. Any plans for inverts?

Hmmmm... A chum of mine had a trio of them in a 125 for about 2 years before he took the tank down. Other than jumping, he never had problems with them fighting. He started with 3, one jumped and died, he added another, and they seemed to be fine--always hanging out together. Not sure on genders, though--he could have had all females, or a single male with 2 females. That's the limit of my experience.

umh? I not a damsel expert or anything like that but, are you sure that you want to add the blue damsel and the clown? From what I understand they are related and won't get along very well at all. I could be wrong but, it's something you might want to consider or perhaps someone with more experience will chime in. I do know that damsels are a ***** to catch.
Just a thought

I personally wouldn't add a damsel either. They are way too territorial and will harass any other fish you have, even the ones that are 10 times bigger than they are.

Personally, I like damsels. I keep damsels and clowns in a lot of tanks together. Just remember each can be territorial.

As to the firefish (dartfish), I read conflicting information on these all the time. Some say only one unless a pair; others keep 3 or more with no trouble for years. I do think it is a bad choice for a tank that also has damsels and/or clowns from my experience.

I think it might be a wide combination of factors for firefish: tank size, hiding spots available, genders of the fish in question, peacefulness of tankmates, age of the respective fish, etc.

http://wetwebmedia.com/ca/wormfishes.htm says that they hang out in larger groups as juveniles, but should be kept in pairs as adults. It also says no more than 1 per 20 gallons. With the aggressiveness of the other fish on the list, it sounds like the firefish wouldn't cope well regardless of what else is done.

With the damsel and the clowns, maybe add all three at the same time.... Hopefully they won't kill each other.

Dean,

If you like the Damsel, get it. It will be fine in a 45 with the clowns you like. Just put the clowns in first and understand once the Damsel is in you will have trouble adding other fish. You can also use the Yellowtail blue damsel. It does not grow as large as the Blue Damsel and is less aggressive.

Some of the fish that do well with the damsel are Royal gramma if put in before the damsel. Neon Dottybacks( may eat shrimp), Splendid Dottyback, Flame hawkfish.
