Stonefish.?

yes be careful. They are the most venemous fish in the world. I almost got stung by one once. Scary experience seeing as a small sting can cause paralysis and death.
They have several venom injecting spines along their dorsal fin. The pain is so extreme victims ask to have the affected area amputated. But seriously be careful.

They are probably freshwater stonefish...still poisonous, still can sting, but can't kill you.

I haven't heard about the freshwater variety. The one I caught was a saltwater strain someone locally had let go into the bay I was fishing in.

i saw these in the LFS today. Pretty fish. They are selling for $10. Had 5 of them that ii could see were about 2-4 inches.
The LFS is Suffolk County fish and reef. First time i was there what a nice store. I signed up for coupons and got 10% off and a free calender. But its all salt water fish in the calender...lol

I used to care for these in my high school, well the saltwater variety. they will eat any fish that swims by them so keeping them with other species is not advised. Larger ones will try to eat smaller ones. We used to feed them what i knew as kilifish, just whatever would come into the trap we baited with some old bread.
