Stop ripping up my plants!

ive had a similar rproblem with my plec id say it was him
and before any one says there aglgea eaters ive caught him at it so i know it was him

Even though I've had no experience with any of the fish listed, generally, when keeping big fish(ID shark, plecos, clowns, ropefish), its never a good idea to keep plants, unless you're an expert at it. The current from their tails when the big fish are startled is alone enough to uproot some plants.

Most big fish LIKE to uproot plants for no reason at all. If I were you and wanted a planted tank, I'd go for heavy fake plants because there is no way that you could set up plants in that tank

If you had let the plants grow out to being huge before you put the fish in the tank, that might have worked. But other than that, I have no idea what you can do.

Murder Number 3! This is totally NOT funny anymore...I woke this morning to find one more of my plants ripped apart and my red/green broadleaf plant, 3/4ths of it had been torn off.

This is SO ANNOYING!

I put my clawless crayfish in there because I didn't want her getting injured by the male with no way to defend herself (yes the male ripped both of her pinchers off, she's no threat to my fish). But the plants were being torn off before I put her in.

I really hate buying fake plants...they just look so....fake...*shudder* But I don't know how I can make them stop gnawing the stems off from the roots. Here are the latest victims...

Your loaches and plecos would be the culprits. They're wisterias which are true aquatic plants. The red one looks so terrestrial to me.

You can trying piling some stones around the base of your plants to keep them from being mauled. It worked for me in my 70g Amazon tank. (I have an overzealous 6 inch peppermint pleco (L31) in there and he likes uprooting plants also)

For starters, Plecs love to dig, and all of mine will make a point of digging up my plants, So i have now potted the plants in my sand tank in small terracotta pots. (For which i am growing out some java moss to eventualy hide). They will shove anything in their way aout of their way.

Also my gouramis love to eat my plants, the grasses i managed to get for my tank lasted all of a day before they were eaten.
