Store selling Aquababies - CRUEL!

Be Outraged If You Want

You can be outraged by the deplorable conditions in an AquaBabies tank, but who does that harm but yourself? Speak with your pocketbook. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
The truth, as terrible as it may be, is that as long as there is a demand (i.e., sales), they will continue to market these things, and being outraged does nothing but make you an outraged type of person.
Having read several threads in this forum, there is a clear divide; some folks have fish as a pleasant, pretty item in their house to watch and are clearly clueless about fish care. Others care more about the health and well-being of their fish, trying to duplicate their environment in the wild, only feeding premium foods, etc. And here's another awful truth, you can't control what others do or how they care (or don't) for their fish. All you have control over is how YOU treat your fish.
Perhaps some of the folks that purchase AquaBabies will eventually see it as their introduction to fish-keeping, and will learn and grow in the hobby, and eventually take better care of their fish.

If it's legal no probs here.

It's not like you couldn't keep fish in a styrafoam cup if you really wanted to, hidden in your basement (even in Germany. How would the police know?)

Yes I agree the tanks are too small.

I wasn't going to reply to your post, since it wasn't very nice, but I do want to say something:
You say you've read several threads, which isn't many, and you appear to have made some pretty quick value judgements about the people who come here. Most people here are really respectful, and we come to ask for and offer help to our fellow hobbyists.
Please don't call people 'clearly clueless' or judge how or why they keep their fish, that's not why we're here.

Blinky, I was just trying to understand the difference between the Aquababies and the Betta cups. No I don't think either is enough water but I've never heard anyone complain about the Bettas. Guess I felt like they were being left out.

In any case, claims that people will make about the things they sell have cease to amaze me. :-)

Ah, gotcha! :D
If you poke around the 'general' forum a bit, you'll see LOTS of posts about bettas, including their living arrangements. That's what I meant by I wasn't going to get into it; it's already been said by others much better than I could say it myself.

YUCK never heard of them before - reminds me of goldfish in cups at the fair. I still can't believe their claim with the 2, 3-year old rosey barbs. Sorry, but that is just implausible in a few cups of water! Where is truth in advertising??

By PETA do you mean People Eating Tastey Animals? Just teasing!
