Storing Christmas/Java Moss

I :help: have some xmas moss coming in. More than I can use day 1. Any way to store it outside a tank until I get my other tank setup?

Put it in a cup of water, in a windowsill.

how long until you get the other tank set up. at times i use the breeding basket as a place to hold extra plants. that way they get the light co2 and ferts still.

about a month. Maybe I will pick up a breeeding basket.

if its that long i would go with breeders net. i have kept moss in them for a couple months and it was fine.

This stuff is so durable, it's amazing. I started with a sandwich baggie of the stuff, and now it's propagating in four tanks. Probably have a small pail of it now, and it needs very little attention. Even people like me can get it to grow, which means you will be even more successful, and I mean that in every good way.

Breeding net for a month is a-ok; it will actaully thrive! Heck, a week in a tupperware bowl on the windowsill, stirring it daily would work, too...and it would probably propagate there if you used tank water and tossed in some of your water changes into it.
