The fish just started acting like this today. If the video works you may note the water is blue from the ick treatment.

sort of like teh fish is sleeping or drunk. It will dive, surface and act like it has passed out and swimming like it is drunk.

also the zebra danio seems to have it's spine slimped. I am about ready to flush him/her to save teh rest of teh fish but am wanting to see if it pulls through.

Well the video didn't show up for me but it sounds like it could be a swim bladder disorder. Is the fish exhibiting any other symptoms? Are any of the other fish showing symptoms too? Also, what are your water parameters and tank size and stocking? DON'T FLUSH THE FISH! There is a chance you may be able to save him/her, and if it gets too bad than euthanize, but never, ever flush a live fish down the toilet.

Just woke up and checked on the fish. Last night when I went to sleep there was no other symptoms besides the fish acting like it is drunk....

... This morning the fish seems to have a bit of irritation, some what like a red rash around the gills.

It is a zebra danio, and up until the time teh one got sick they were the three most active fish in the tank.

Sounds like something with ammonia. What are your water parameters? I'd start by doing a 25-50% water change.

I still need to buy a test kit, but for the most part the the fish have done well with just the treated tap water. And I would figure that if it the chemistry of the water more than one fish would be effected.

I treated them around midnight (EST) with the ick/fungi treatment, so at midnight going to do teh 50% water change out like they said.

i would not assume all fish would be affected by ammonia at the same time. i have quite a few in my 50 gal and only my farlowella showed any signs really. to add insult to injury by the time he showed anything he was already doing pretty bad. check out the thread "water main, ammonia, necrosis". that's the one chronicling my fun.

Just shelled out for the liquid test kit.... .25 ppm ammonia reading about half way through the 5 min wait period.

Was talking to the guys at the store. The white spots might just be injuries/nicks. And also that the one fish effected now might be the weakest of the bunch and is a precursor of what may come.

Cycled the tank, 50% new water, sucked up all the stuff from the gravel I could. The ammonia test picks up the "neutral" ammonia, the stuff the water conditioner makes safe?

The sick fish is more active after the water change, but seems to be swimming horizontal for most of the time... although s/he does swim normal for a time.... hopefully the water change will help.

Please check my post in your other thread. I think your fish are suffering from water quality issues.

It would be very helpful to you to read the "sticky" about the cycling of a new tank. This is very, very important to read. Cycling is more than doing water changes. Certain bacteria have to become established in your tank to break down the toxic byproducts that accumulate in fishtanks, and this takes quite a long time. Usually six to eight weeks.

Here's the link. Please read it as soon as possible. I think it will help.

Funny thing is this illness occurred in my established tank. It's been up and running for about 5 or more months.

The 30g one I had ammonia out the wazoo, but I realized when gravel vacuuming that I was over feeding the fishes big time in that tank.

Checking out the link now. I am new to testing water and the chemistry.
