Strange Bump Picture Inside

I'm glad to hear he's eating. I'm really pulling for you and your little buddy. Keep us posted on his condition, and post more pics if possible.

He had a flare up again. I did a salt treatment last time after the meds. So I don't know if the meds cleared it up or it was the salt. This time he is going to stay in the QT tank until I am 100% sure it's completely gone. I am leaning more towards flukes now because I saw him scratching and he went through a whole treatment of medicated antibacterial flakes and it did nothing. He didn't get any better and maybe even worse during it so it appeared to be no effect. He has been in salt for a week now, doesn't scratch anymore but no signs of getting better yet other then he stopped scratching that I have seen. I uploaded some videos on you tube in case they are more visable then the pictures.

So since maracyn 2 didn't work, and I did 14 days of Kanamycin which is a Anti Bacterial food with no results. I am going to try Metronidazole next which is a flake medication just like the kanamycin. Florida guppy which is where it came from says it's a anti protozoa and anti bacteria broad range med. I also have copper safe, in my fish cabinet, and Fenbendazole flake which is supposed to be a dewormer. But unless someone suggests it I will not try those at all.

The part that concerns me is I noticed the scratching this time which was never a symptom before. If you look really closely there are tiny pin sizes white bubble like things and now black little peppered spots. I have read every single disease symptom and can't find a single thing that matches. Fish has been eating and acting fine other then the scratching and swollen and open gill. I doubt it's gill disease because I keep the tank prestine with a 50% water change every week.

So my plan is if something doesn't work move on to something else. Eventually a medication will have to clear up whatever it is.

I wish you could get photos of that. This is perplexing.

My perspective on this issue are the following:

1. SInce fish is eating well, swimming well and non of antibiotics used have shown any improvement, how about just monitioring the fish for any possible developments of more definitive symptoms.

2. It could be normal reaction of fish trying to cope with different type of water. For example, Ive seen fish produce extra slimesto pretect themselves when exposed to extreme water which is irritants or stimulus trigerring such mechanism. Could it be possible gill filaments are producing such or perhaps inflammation of fill filaments?

As long as fish is eating well and behaving/swimming normally, alert and water w/in acceptable range, i would just monitor for now!!!

I wish I could get pictures of it too. It's so frustrating. It looks as if the plate is opened and scales are flaking off of it. He has acted pretty much normal as you can see in the video. It just looks bad. And it's not getting any better and it has been 2 months. Maybe it's just a defect, or since it was a wound most likely in the first place maybe just a scar. I will keep him in there and monitor him for as long as I can try to figure it out. But if nothing works I guess he if it was serious he would have died or at least gotten sick by now since it has been so long.

How's he doing? I hope he's feeling better. Give us an update, when you can.

I just went out and got Furan 2 and I already have Kanamycin. I tried Maracyn II and Kanamycin before but never a combination of food and water meds before. So I am going to try the exact treatment Mel suggested and see if it does anything. I was hoping if it was flukes the salt treatment would cure it. 2 weeks and it has only gotten worse, no scratching during the salt but more swelling.
