Strange cyano issue

Yep it does look like it but it's actually soft layers on top of the rock and easy to get off. My buddy (who had his cyano problem a few months ago) was over Saturday night and agreed it was too.

Thanks for the Maracyn idea. Tomorrow I'm going to extensively clean my tank, including that rock, and see what happens.

but if you don’t eliminate the source or cause of the cyno it will eventually return.

Exactly...but still makes me wonder why it's on just the one rock.

That picture made me worry, thinking I have it in my tank now. Mine doesn't look displeasing. You do say its soft to the touch?

Yes, it's soft. Haha, it actually makes the rock look "pretty" and the color isn't bad but I still don't want it there because some people literally wake up to a tank full of it on top of everything in big red sheets.

What makes you think you have it?

If you do a Google Image search you can see more extreme cases of it.

I did an image search on google, and it doesn't really look like what I have. I think it just might be coralline. I felt it today and its not really soft. I thought it was more wavy and hair-life than appearing like coralline. Not as worried anymore though.

But yet I wish you luck on combating cyano.
