strange happenings with your tanks

Well the babies are now ranging from 2 -3 inches in length and I took a few shots.

I also decided that it was time to move my flitter fish from my puffer tank as my golden dragon puffers were eating a little to well. Here is one after he sniped off one of my baby oscars

Here are what the babies look like now

there are about 15 kinds of barbs and tetras in the tank now with the babies

so I thought I would revive this thread because these little dudes are the strangest fish I have ever owned

I just shut down the 55g at home tonight and am transfering the fish to the 180g here and the little fry have grown almost nothing since I last took pics, I just can not figure it out.

I took a couple of pics of the 2 biggest ones in the palm of my hand to give a size reference. Let's see if they change in a 180g.

But I have never had fish grow so slow

Ok all fish in the 180 and did not see one of the fish in there go for lunch so I have my fingers crossed that I do not lose them.

Have taken some shots and will see if my substitute lap top will work for picture down load should but my main pc blew up so will have to see. be back later

Ok this is all the fish I moved from the home tank to the restaurant

if you look in the top right you will see 2 convicts, which are both about this size

IMGP7667.jpg

If you look in the bottom right corner of the first picture you will see the size of one of the bigger mystery fry. I accidentally erased all my fry pics and saved what I thought was a fry pic but it is the other convict. The fry are at best 75% of the size of the convicts which really puzzles me as I have never had cichlid fry take so long to be so small.

Considering my first post was back in october I would have expected them to have grown much bigger. I perhaps will try to net one of them to take a pic but the 180 is chock full of hiding places so that might be hard to do, maybe I will take a in tank shot.

am done posting on this thread as all fish now moved to the restaurant

please close thread thanks

Well I thought I would post a pic just to update this thread.

Of all the tiny tiny babies I have about 15 fish now. The rest died by getting eaten by their tank mates, which really sucked but after all fish eat fish.

As they grow they are most definitely not anything like any of the other fish that I had in the tank. I did have a couple of salvini in there for a very short period of time while I was moving them to the restaurant. As well there was a 3 hour period when I had to drop a whole assortment of africans from a 230g I purchased. The nearest I can get as I am watching these fish grow is that somewhere along the way 2 fish got together and had a fling and these guys are the result.

I picked this for the here they are today shot because it has 3 of them in varying stages of growth in the picture. They are very slow growing that is for sure. Yet, here for your viewing and guessing as to what they are is the picture I took 15 minutes ago.

My camera is better than me and I can not figure out how to get it so the flash does not wash out the fish they have a lot of blue on them. They honestly look like a peacock/salvini cross.
