I have 10g with 2 platy, 2 danios and a swordtail. I bought this swordtail and one of platy, one of danio over a week ago at LFS. Looked good initially but after my 2 y old daughter spilled some flakes into the tank last Friday morning, I did cleaning at the night and on Saturday I did 50% water change. Then next monring the swortail has a strange symptom: lost appetite, sit in the bottom gasping(may not rapid, but unusual), may change a place a few hours, still responding, cannot move the tail and the body looks very rigid and little bended.

There is no other symptoms so far for the swordtail and all the other fishes are fine. The swordtail is still alive.

The water chemistry is good, Ph is 7.4, no amonia, nitrite. I changed the carbon filter in the water change. I set up the tank over half year now. There was two fishs dying almost immediately due to PH or unknown reason, but not like this swordtail.

I am trying to save this swordtail but dont know what to do.

I am not advocating this sites cures (I have not used them myself), but the diagnosis section might help point you to a possible disease or two. Then you can do further research.
