Strange tank color

Please watch what you say to other members. People were concerned about the well being of the fish. That is NO reason to flame them. Please be aware and don't let it happen again, otherwise you will loose your posting rights. We are a fun safe family oriented board. Keep it clean! MSL

On a side note my fish are doing fine especially since they sleep on top of one another and swim side by side doing circles around each other. Considering how some people don't clean, feed, change water, and check water chems for a tank killing hundreds of fish a day I think I'm in the yellow zone on the "mistreatment" category.

I was polite, to the point and courteous to the first answers even when I was told the tank was small.

Read up a thread or so buddy and you see what I said.

I can see you are trying to be mean to me even though I can't understand your grammar. I don't like it. If you're going to be mean to others take it to another site.
We don't talk like that here anymore.

Unnecessary comment! MSL

Other than that, as long as the puffers are happy for now and you are watching the water parameters, I guess temporarily it isn't too much of a problem, having them in a ten gallon. Personally, I have one 3" in his own 25 gallon. I recently added driftwood too, and yeah the tannins are leeching into my water too. A lovely (sarcasm) **** yellow color in my water. I have carbon in my filter but it doesn't seem to be helping. It is a little better for a day or so after I change the water but I guess I will just wait it out. I boiled my driftwood but not for long enough, apparently.

But yeah, those puffs won't be good in that 10 gallon for the duration of their lives... they get up to 6" and live like 10 years I think. What do you plan on doing with them when they outgrow the tank? Get rid of them? Or will you have another, bigger tank ready?

PS I edited my post again, right before you started replying. I edit a lot.

Anyway I plan to get a much larger fish tank.
I'm talking 150 gallon maybe more.
I have the tank in sight at my store.

Just waiting for the fish to outgrow my little one.

I'm thinking of a huge puffer tank with all types.

I'm excited. I can mix up the species right?

I only have a GSP and some dwarf puffers (seperate tanks)... I think it depends on how stocked the 150 gallon is. I wouldn't stock it too heavily with any puffers, particularly not with different species. In such a large tank I imagine you would be okay as long as you stock it lightly. You are lucky that those two seem to get along for now... I wouldn't bet for that much luck if you got a bunch of them. I know it isn't reccomended to mix puffers with non-puffers at all... they are generally suggested to be species-only because that way they are matched for size and aggression, but if you get similiar sized species then I imagine you would probably be okay. Glad to hear you are getting a bigger tank, a 10 isn't the most suitable for two GSP's, especially in the long run. Do you plan on keeping it brackish, or going full marine? GSP's can (and are often suggested to) go full marine by adulthood. Look into the species available for brackish and marine, I think there are significantly more available for marine. But yeah, either way, I think as long as you stock sparingly and get similiar species or sizes, you should be okay.

My opinion is easily overridden though, I've only been in the aquarium hobby a few months and being sixteen doesn't give me the greatest authority on any subject, really... :( But I research like crazy, so that has to get me some repute.

The problem with keeping them in the small tank is that they won't "outgrow" it. It will stunt their growth. Please get at least a 55gal for them sooner than later. The only problem I have with you is that you come here for advice and then get angry when you heard what you didn't want. I hope that you care about your fish enough to want to give them the longest, most comfortable life possible. I appologize if I've misunderstood you. We only have their best interests in mind. If you get advice from RTR, Pufferpunk, and many others, you'd be wise to take their advice. They've kept many species of puffers for over 20yrs. If you want to keep recieving great advice, stay here and stop being so defensive. We are trying to help you avoid mistakes we've made, instead of learning them the hard way and killing fish needlessly.

Let's all chill out here, it's gotten nasty enough.

Kim
