I have well water so no worries about chlorine/chloramine. I used stress coat in the beginning only because they guy that set up my first tank used it. I no longer use any additives (sort of). I simply usse "Aquarium Salt" or Kosher salt dissolved in a glass of warm water.
I use the following:
1 tbsp per 5 gallon for initial set up or ailment treatment with temp at 80º-82º
1 tsp per 10 gallon normal maintenance - normal temp
For me, this works well. No salt added in Tetra tanks.
