Hey there, I have this lonely (old and rediculously smart) danio, that is tuning into a "nipping machine". All he cares for is my other fishes fins. So I thought I will move him to a different tank and give him a couple of buddies. The guy is smart, he does not get near a net, not even if a put food in it. Now I don't want to chase him through the tank, stiring up all the sand, possibly messing up the plants and the "landscaping". So here is my question....how do I get that little sucker? Any ideas on how to move a fish to a different tank, without turning the aquarium into a pot of soup.

Two nets and patience. It could take you 20 or 30 minutes to catch him but you can catch him with slow movements. Eventually he will swim into the net. Hold one more or less stationary and use the other to slowly herd him into the larger net.
Use distraction, get him focused on one net by moveing it around slowly towards him but purposely not trying to catch him with it. At some point he will forget the other net and that is when you can make a quick scoop with it.

I have used a clear glass pitcher for hard to catch fish. simply place pitcher on its side, and then use your net to "herd" the fish into it, then tip the pitcher upright and use the net to scoop out the fish. works very well for loaches/corys in a planted tank, and should work for a danio also, assuming you can get him out of the top water column.
