A few hours ago I saw a news report saying the the footage of some of the cameras of the shuttle shows something falling off jus after the feul cells fall away. I saw when they showed it, and something did appear to have come off some part of the shuttle. They have another shuttle already up there if they can't make it back in this one. At least that's a good precaution.
I can't believe they even risked it with the system still having errors, I'm beginning to think we're getting desperate to beat everyone else to the punch up there.
I can't believe all the money we're spending for this while we still have so many things to fix down here. I understand going into space and studying the many things up there is important, but we unfortunately have more pressing issues at the moment. I think that before we go and go messing with another planet, we should at least get our own in a bit better shape than what it is.
BTW, do you know how much of the ocean is still unexplored & unmapped?
There's alot down there we still don't know about, and its' the closest thing we have to an alien world. There should be mre effort to get down there and really get to know our world a little more fully, since the Earth is mostly covered by the seas. JMO

No one knows how bad, or where the damage is so far. But NASA still did do many, many tests to make sure it is safe. In the coming days expect to find out more about that form.
