5 weeks into the diatom bloom and it's no better. I won't go into details--you can read my other posts on it if you want. It's an established tank that was moved and the substrate was replaced with CaribSea "live" sand. It had a mix of sand and medium pea gravel before.
Everything still tests the same---
sal 1.023
ph 8.3
amm 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10
phos 0
temp 74 (5am) - 76 (5pm)
calcium 420
I can't find a place to test silicates---gonna buy a test soon.
Now I've got spots of slime algae. Some purple, some red and some of those have strings that protrude and flow with the current. Turnover is 20-22 depending on what my head loss from the sump is.
I'm going to stop dosing with ReefComplete (no corals anyway--I just wanted coralines to grow). I added Phosguard to try and help with the silicates--too soon to tell anything one way or the other.
I'm bangin my head here---the tank looks horrible. Is there anything else I can do or test for?
