On my way out this morning, I noticed my Java fern was covered in this reddish brown fuzz. It kind of looked like a powder. Thinking about it, I thought it might be clay dust from when I put in fluorite the other day (I guess I didn't clean the fluorite very well, as my tank was seriously bogged up for about 10 hours.

Not sure if this is anything serious or not, I'm going to try cleaning it off when i get home, unless someone has seen this before and has an idea of what I should do, or if I should just pull it (Wouldn't break my heart).

Thanks!

it's probably either dust or brown algae (diatoms). nothing harmful either way and both should clean off quickly with a finger.

Otos, bristlenose, and snails will clean brown algae, if that's what you have.

Pull it and ship it to me. I will take it LOL :)
