I lost my favorite fish last week. Dumb thing jumped out. About 5 minutes ago I saw a dark thing on my carpet. It was another killi. I have 3 left including the moron who just jumped(he seems ok) the only place they can get out is where the filter outlet is. Im planning on getting a screen of some kind to cover that part. Im not really asking for advice so much as venting my frustration over loosing my favorite little guy, and seeing that my problems are not over. :(

Plastic wrap usually works well :)
Or netting cut off from old fish nets.
Every fish I own has a tendancy to jump, so I either prepare for it or lose fish :\

I just used some tin foil and scotch tape to block the holes.

do you have a tank lid? just asking because fish only just if they are stressed (but you should know all that :D)

sooo... answer the questions?
and what are the params?

Killies are really good at jumping through the smallest hole. In an emergency, I pack used fish bags or other plastic in any little holes.

Swordtails are also expert escape artists. I found a couple crispy critters that got through a 3/8" gap before I plugged it. Same with one of my rosy barbs.

while fish do jump due to poor water quality, its not always the case. some fish are just born jumpers, no matter what the water params are. i know for a fact killi's are born jumpers, my friend lost 4 of them during a short vacation! they are pretty sneaky.
