Stupid question about snails...

I might be worrying too much but I keep my tank super clean. I do daily water changes. I've become obsessed about it since I had a bacterial bloom and 2 weeks of really high nitrates. I never want to go through that again. Here's my stupid question:

I have a lot of MTS. I hardly ever see them. They stayed burried but I know that they are there from when I get one in the gravel vac and a few of them pop up when its feeding time. How do you know when they are dead? Do they stayed burried? How bad would 1 dead MTS affect my levels?
Thanks!

MTS appear mostly at night or during feeding. One dead MTS isn't going to make much difference. The other snails will only eat the dead snail so it's not an issue compared to a mass number loss which is something you should look into.:)

Thanks :) I would have thought that their shells were too hard for other snails to eat. I don't have any losses that I know of yet. I tend to worry about things before they happen. :)
