Ok so here’s a stupid question; my GUESS is there is no solution BUT I thought id through it out there just incase anyone came up with any bright ideas…

Just FINALLY getting my new 90G up and running; it will be a heavy planted tank; Co2 on a PH trigger; CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYY lights (probably way too much); etc…

NOW I REALLY like giant snails; {like fist sized} however as im sure anyone who’s ever had any can tell you; they have a propensity to play lumberjack; IE slide on up to a plant; chop it down, leave a stump; the leaves go skyward… now I want a snail and I want plants;
Thoughts?

Ok now don’t laugh
I was thinking about somehow putting a “leash” on the snail so it couldn’t get that close to the plants (anchor fishing line to the shell); but then im wondering if that would be a bit mean… then again it is only a snail…

Any good ideas? OTHER than loose the snail?

well it depends on the type of snail but if you get the right kind theyonly eat aquarium plants when there's nothing they like better in which case keeping veggies and algae wafers available will prevent plant munching

possible solution to plant eating snails

My snails prettty much leave my plants alone when I feed them broccolli stems, zuccinni and especially romaine lettuce attatched to a clip and removed before they become softened. They need it strategically placed and always available. I have apple snails. My clown loaches eat any babies they may have so it keeps the population down.
