Styrofoam Cement Rock Background Attempt

mine went up to 8.4 or a little higher with just some cement blocks in the tank. It would be a great range for some african cichlids. I didn;t keep them in log so I don't know how long it would stay high. I have a cement hoop that I made to test I'll put it in some water this weekend and Take readings.

On the Garf website (garf.org), there are some really detailed instructions on how to make cement "reef rock". They suggest letting it sit in vinegar for a while (I seem to remember it said a week or so). Couldn't figure why, but now it makes sense-that will help to lower the ph and cure the surface. Maybe that would help!
The section on the website is titled Aragocrete, or something like that.

yea my PH test strips go up to 8 and it pegged 8 for the longest even with 50% water changes every other day, outta the tap and let sit for a couple hours my ph is high 6. But ya get some frican cichlids and that wold be great for them.
