submersible or not

So I bought a jager heater and the box says submersible so when i open it up it says not to submersie it past the line WTF

Post what heater you bought. Mostly all heaters today can be fully submerged.

There are still quite a few of the "cheap" heaters out there, especially ones supplie with tank kits that can not be submerged.

it is submersible, not sure why they have that water line mark there. I have another heater thats also submersible and says same thing. Perhaps its to tell you that water level shouldnt be below that so the heater doesnt overheat?! idk lol

I've read it says "not submersible" to satisfy some Canadian law requiring a line. But in the US it says it's ok. Powerheads have that too.

There are still lots of those heaters with screw clamps that are not submersible (& not worth having, IME of course)

My submersible also has a line but that is the minimum water level (as Bk828 surmises). The water level should not fall below that line or the heater could be damaged. Perhaps that's also the case with yours and you have just misread the instructions.

oh well I have read it several times it isays not to submerse it past the line but on the box it clearly says submersible maybe i should call eheim

if its the ebo jager blue tops they are submersible. no idea why they confusing people but i have a few of them.
