substrate dilemma

i have a 30 gallon standard tank. originally, i wanted a low tech planted tank. so i used 2 - 3 inches of play sand as a substrate and got a coralife double strip 36in strip light (42W total). i figured if i dosed with flourish, excel, and used root tabs, that would be fine for my low tech tank. my tank is now almost 2 months old and everything is going smoothly.

recently a nearby lfs is having a going out of business sale. i am buying stuff like crazy (this is breaking my bank account) and i saw one last bag of seachem flourite, originally $30 but now $20, so basically same price as online but without the shipping. i had to get it before someone else snatched it. so now my problem is this: should i uproot every plant, take out all the fish and decorations just so i can mix the plant substrate in with the sand? or should i just somehow gently mix this stuff into the sand without tearing everything apart? and how would i go about this? any ideas and opinions are greatly appreciated.
