All I know on this subject is that the fish we have in tanks with black sand look nicer than the ones with white sand.

You should see a blue cray on black Tahitian moon sand. Wow.

Thanks guys...so in theory/reality most shrimpies look better on a darker substrate...and the darker ones may look better on a lighter substrate...
