What do you guys reckon about using beach sand for substrate?
Has anyone had experience with it in a tank before?

I reckon i would look kool in my 10g tank, but would plants grow in it?

Ditto on wht above poster said. Personally I would not use sand from the beach. THeres no telling what kind of pollutants or unwanted inhabitants or parasites are in it..

You can purchase pool sand for about 4 dollars per 50 pounds..

why risk it..... spend the couple bux to get clean sand.... and make sure you wash it.

thanks for the info i wont be using beach sand. i will probably just by the sand.

good idea. i think it would cost me more to go to the beach and get sand. i live 10 miles away. after paying for parking or driving farther down where its free to park having to clean my car of all the sand.... i dont think its worth it.
