Substrate

Interesting. I bought my bag at Home Despot. Maybe you could ask them about it?

I just got Soilmaster Pro Select from Lesco this afternoon. I called and asked about it last week and the guy immediately told me he could have it in a week. And sure enough, here it is. No problem.

Maybe Home Despot could do th same for the Quikrete stuff? If not, I'm sure there are other sources.

Masonry supply?

Just wanted to mention I went to Lowes the other day and looked for the Quikrete Medium Sand and it unfortunately doesnt look at all like what was pictured. It looks nearly identical to the play sand on the next palette over, just a slightly different shade but just as fine. Seems to be regional like was mentioned in the other thread.

Aggregates are pretty heavy, so I'll assume that companies with larger geographical coverage likely package the local goodies rather than shipping nationally from one source. Following this logic, it would make sense that the product would vary from locality to locality.

Golf courses are a great spot to find some fairly coarse sand - just make sure you wash it really, really, really well! Oh - and that the people playing on the course don't take exception to you filling your buckets
